The only classes I think are first rate are Helen Kessler's yoga stratching classes. I REALLY look forward to the Les Miles work outs. I work 9-5 so I hope you have them at three times a week at 6 or 7 pm, or 7:30 am. Thanks for adding the into the schedule!

I'm actually leaving Lifestyles because they do not offer enough Body Pump classes in the evenings. I think more classes after 5 pm would be a great advantage. I definitely am considering switching to your facility!

Katherine's 10:30 classes are perfect for me as far as the time and degree of difficulty. Tory's 5:30 classes are perfect for my schedule... I have shoulder and knee issues so the weights and lunges with the new group would be unacceptable to me, I will not be attending those classes. Both Tory and Katherine are highly qualified instructors and have a loyal following.

Class times

by JWM
(Sarasota)

Question I think a big problem with classes it that they are at 4:30 and 5:30. I would think that people that work would appreciate 5:15 and 6:15 classes. Are most of the fitness members ladies of leisure?

Answer I wish I was a lady of leisure. 5:15 seems early to me for a working person. Drive to club and change for class I would think would take more than 15 minutes. Please leave comments about which is better for you 5:15 or 5:30. I was planning on trying more 5:30 and 6:30 classes.

Thanks Scott

Les Mills Reorganization-No Member Input

by Carol Marcus
(Osprey, Fl USA)

On 7/8/09 a chart posted on the mirror in the exercise room classified exercise classes by attendance numbers. Several classes were classified as "needs improvement". The group of members present at Tory's class were concerned, as year-round residents who love Tory's 9:00 a.m. classes. These members were not told "far in advance" that a franchise company (Les Mills) had been hired. Will attendance on a given day be the deciding factor of whether or not a class will remain in a time slot? Will teachers be required to pay $400 of their own money to be trained in the "Les Mills Method"? Will they then be ask to pay every three months to obtain new routines and music? Why weren't the members given information about the Les Mills program and an opportunity to ask questions and see a demonstration of the Les Mills techniques?
Below is a list of the members who wish to communicate to you their concern and indignation that without their input, excellent teachers and classes may be lost:

Fiesta Dance Class

by Elisa
(Sarasota)

June 2009

About a month ago I started coming for this dance class on Wednesdays at 4:30. I would pay the 10 dollar guest fee off my daughters membership. We liked it so much I decided to take advantage of the summer special. Please do not ax this class. I realize there is one on Thursdays as well, however, my work schedule (8:30-5) on this day gets in the way. Thanks for listening.

Elisa, thank you for the comment. We will consider this before we make any decisions.

Please provide classes for working people

Please provide more classes for working people. If you want to gain new members you need to have offerings of yoga and fitness classes for people who work until 5:30. I have tried to convince friends to joining the club but the answer is always the same...."the YMCA has a yoga or muscle works class after work and that is the only time I can go." A 6:30 pm time slot would be ideal. These are the people with the greatest need for the relaxation of yoga and the stress reduction of aerobic and weight classes and if they cannot find them at the club, as much as they like it, they will go elsewhere

Thanks for the comment
We plan on adding more classes at 6:30 and 1 will be yoga. The will be added when we change the schedule in August.

I think that spinning class should be offered 6 a.m. or 7 a.m. Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays. For the members that work earlier. Or have it later in the evening at 7 or 8 p.m.

Thanks!
